Thinking of attending our open rehearsal but not quite sure what to expect and whether it’s for you? Why not take the plunge as there’s nothing to lose and everything to gain!
Perhaps you’ve not sung since school and are feeling a bit nervous, or perhaps you’ve sung for many years and are now working part-time and like the idea of a daytime choir. Whatever your experience and reasons, you will receive a warm welcome, lots of support and a lot of laughter as this is the friendliest and most helpful group of ladies I have ever sung with. When you join a choir you are joining a community and the friendships forged are as integral as the music-making.
As two of our ladies shared:
“It is so enjoyable to join with such a lovely bunch of ladies and work together towards a common goal”.
“You are such a lovely, kind and supportive group who has always made me feel very welcome”.

At our open rehearsal, you can participate as much or as little as you like or simply sit and listen if you prefer. The idea of the session is to come along to find out more about us without obligation. There is no need to rush to decide to join either. Come to a few sessions before making that decision. Our next concert is Sunday 28th June 2026.
We are a mix of ages, professions, and musical ability from non-readers to orchestral players, and together we have created many magical performances (you can see some of our performances at https://www.youtube.com/@SurreyHillsChoirs. Look for the Surrey Hills Singers videos). We sing all styles of songs from musicals to madrigals, contemporary pop to contemporary classical, traditional folk songs and spirituals, and music from all the eras of history. This aspect is expressed by one of our singers “it’s so rewarding to sing in close harmony and I love that our performances encompass such a diversity of musical genres”.
We give two concerts annually with the Surrey Hills Chamber Choir and collaborate on a few songs too.Our Christmas concert has become a sell out the last three years and we are very proud that our audience love the way we perform.

We look forward to meeting you Monday 19th January, 10.30am at Ewhurst Baptist Church and if you are still undecided, let me quote one of our altos: “our choir keeps my mind busy and my heart happy”.
