Open rehearsal for all ladies who love to sing. Monday 15th January 10.30am at Ewhurst Baptist Church in Surrey.
If you’ve ever sung in a choir, you’ll already know that singing is a great way to activate those happy hormones and create a sense of unity with others, whilst expressing yourself through the power ofmusic. But did you also know that singing has many physical and mental health benefits - from improving memory and lung function, to reducing stress and pain levels?
The Surrey Hills Singers, who rehearse in Ewhurst but have singers from a radius of Dorking, Alfold, Godalming and Guildford, is living positive proof of the positive impact that joining a choir can have. It gives its singers the opportunities to sing in many harmonious arrangements of all styles of music, but also to engage directly with the audience to communicate all the emotions of a song. As well as the singing, friendship and teamwork plays an important role for this group.
Our choir is unique as it is a daytime choir that was founded particularly for mothers who are unable to get to evening rehearsals, but we welcome women of all ages. Pre-school children are welcome to attend too. We love to sing all styles of music, but you do not need to read music. We have a mixture of music readers and non-music readers and part files and other tools are available online to continue listening after rehearsals.
We join forces with the Surrey Hills Chamber Choir twice a year for concerts and are proud that our Christmas Concert is so popular with the audience it is regularly a sell out.
We had some new singers in September who have loved the choir and would love to welcome more singers this term.
